Yeah I am another one of those using 3D canvas on FoundryVTT. Uhh another fine map making tool - and again it looks even better than the last one I throw my money at :-) But that's great! I love spending money on great Apps! This will result (if enough other people think the same way) in more features and options one can delve into.īut i seems to see some kind of odd development here: it seems that (from a perspective of a fantasy RPG GM) that there is a nice development of tools that are getting more and more user friendly and visually overwhelming (like this gem) but on the other side 3D is getting a growing part of the cake. Also making the 3D files importable to something like TaleSpire which has a way to create your own assets, would "kill two birds with one development" pre-say. I haven't used Foundry and don't have the need or room to 3D print my dungeons, but looking at videos of Foundry or TaleSpire especially, I can see a pairings like DA and TaleSpire or DA and TableTop Simulator working together as something many of the commenters are looking for.

I know DA is taking steps with the first person view and such to make the 3D aspect more useful, and they are very busy tiring to make us, the supporters happy, but they have their limits and need to stay focused on their vision. If so, being able to use the 3D assets in another form would be great, and not merely the cool factor it is now. If they are happy with the DLC add-on pack model, then understandable.

If their plan is to grow their company and to make the best bundle of software for the VTT space, then good for them, I wish them luck. A separate VTT software, that would import their dungeons, cities, or worlds allowing them to work together and give DMs the online tabletop they want, possibly adding a subscription so they have continued monthly income. Things like City, Kingdom, and Continent Alchemist, or their own Alchemist VTT. Another way would be to create other tools to expand their line of products. The most common way to do that is sell DLC and add-ons. Once they are past the early access stage they will probably want to grow and expand the company. That is what makes them different and special. I think the awesome folks at DA has looked at the product they want to build from the start and told everyone this is a AI powered mapping software. I'll add an upvote to this with a caveat.
